Boys and Girl Scout camp

This morning we had a pleasant surprise! One of the local pastors called, and asked if we would be interested in visiting a Girl scout and Boy scout camp. We of course were elated by the offer and agreed! Seconds later, we hopped into the pastors van, and made our way over to the camp where 1,400 children participated in games, dancing, singing, and fellowship. The children were very interested to see a group of Americans entering their campsite. With smiles and curious eyes, they came out to greet us. We were told that there were very few children that had ever seen an American, other than what they had seen on T.V.
We were then escorted outside of one of the classrooms, where a mini stage was awaiting us. Mike Terrell began to lead worship, as the rest of the team encouraged the audience to clap their hands and praise the Lord. The kids were captivated, and repeated the new foreign worship songs with happy hearts.
After worship was finished, Micah VanDover shared a message pertaining to Gods Perfect love, and how we can all experience His love anytime. He also explained to them what it meant to rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and how to give thanks with everything and in every situation.
Matt Hutchinson and Janene Valdez shared a brief testimony, on their own personal experiences. Janene shared how she had lost her earthly father, but how she gained a eternal everlasting Father. The children listen intently, as it was something that some could relate to, and apply to their own lives. Matthew explained the importance of knowing Jesus, and exercising the gifts and talents that God has given to every one of us.
We finished off our time on stage with one more worship song, and were then escorted around the camp. There we were introduced to the principals of the schools from all over the island, watched dance competitions performed by dozens of elementary school kids, and even attempted in some of the native dances ourselves. Everywhere we went we were swarmed by children. Although many did not speak English, they still gathered around to hear what we had to say. Praise the Lord, we used the crowds for the advantage of God, and poured out His love onto them.
Many children did know who God was, but were not experiencing a relationship with Jesus. Other children were affiliated with Jehovah Witness churches, who do not claim Jesus to be the son of God. Whatever their background, they were all very receptive to hear what we were preaching, which was that Jesus Christ is Lord and our Saviour! Purihin ang Dios! That means, Praise the Lord!
